Technology
Idro-Perwanger Leather (2.6-3.2+ mm): this premium silicone impregnated rough-out leather is made for La Sportiva by Perwanger Leather of Italy. Perwanger has been making leather in the Southern Tyrol region of Italy since 1780 and tans their Idro-Perwanger hides with a special process to make them extremely water repellent while still remaining breathable. This leather is the most durable available and is made from the corium, the strongest part of the leather.
SBR Aircushion: state of the art modern one-piece synthetic butadiene rubber outsoles incorporate both an outer sole visible to the eye and an inner integral midsole, which provides shock absorption. A honeycomb heel grid flexes upon impact and a softer density rubber forms a midsole cushion from heel to toe while the dense rubber outsole remains abrasion resistant for long wear.

Questions on La Sportiva Karakorum Leather Boot
-
From Alan on 17/02/11
- Are these boots a good all round boot, for use on rocks, scree, tussock, and general tramping & hunting...how flexible is the sole, do they have a half or three quarter shank...How do they compare to my present La Sport Trekas...
- Hi Alan, The Karakorum has replaced the Makalu in the La Sportiva Range. This boot is designed for classical mountaineering, heavyweight trekking or working outdoors thanks to its sturdy and hard wearing properties. These have a three quarter shank which makes them a great solid, stable boot. I am not familiar with your current boots however the Karakorum will definately stand up to rugged off trail use. Thanks
