Technology

Aegis® Microbe Shield:forms a solid structure of polymer spikes that rupture the cells of odour-causing microes, rendering them ineffective. There are no chemicals which can lose their effectiveness over time, and can cause resistan super-bacteria.

Ortholite® insoles: no other insole is able to provide this balance of anti-odour properties, breathability, moisture wicking and long lasting cushioning. Ortholite® breathable open cell polyurethane retains 95% of its cushioning after the first year, as opposed to 30% for EVA footbeds. Ortholite® also allows air to pass through so water can evaporate. Washable.

Q-Form™ Comfort: combines properly sequenced cushioning with a supportive and naturally alnging midsole to create a technology that is 100% tailored to women and the way they move. Research shows that one of the reasons womens move differently is the Q-angle. The Q-angle is named for the quadriceps portion of the upper leg and refers to the anatomical angle between the hip and the knee. Because of this pronounced Q-angle, the initial strike of the heel tends to be concentrated on the outside of the foot (supination) and places additional stress on the medial ligaments casuing discomfort - women tend to compensate by directing their weight toward the inside of the foot (pronation) which also causes discomfort. As a result women will alter their stride again and place their weight on the outside of the foot - a cycle that ultimately results in discomfort and pain (research shows up 75% of women experience this cycle). The Q-Form™ midsole provedes proper support and re-directing of a woman's gait to minimise over correction, alleviate discomfort and reduce wear and tear on the shoe by ensuring an even wear pattern.

Merrell Air Cushion midsole: absorbs shock and adds stability. The Air Cushion compresses on heel strike to absorb shock up to 4 times your body's weight for unmatched support and comfort. In addition, the Air Cushion creates a pronounced heel cup which keeps your heel centered in the boot and helps stabilise your foot. In short, it offers the comfort and cushioning of a running shoe, with the stability and control needed for backcountry travel. No bladders or capsules to pop or explode.
