Technologies | Reusable and durable: Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) is at the core of every flexible hydration product HydraPak make. They have been using it for nearly 20 years and the reason is simple - it performs better than any other material for their application. It is incredibly strong: able to stretch up to 8x its original size without breaking. Because it's so resilient, HydraPak can use minimal material to meet their strength needs. Their hydration products are 3 to 6 times lighter than their hard plastic or stainless steel equivalents, and, as any performance athlete can tell you, weight matters. Lastly, TPU is safe and reliable. It's 100% BPA and PVC free: every one of HydraPak products meets or exceeds the most rigorous national food safety standards in the world. Radio frequency welding: One of the reasons HydraPak work with TPU is it responds extremely well to radio-frequency welding, which is used to bond film or molded pieces to one another. RF welding passes electricity from an anode to a cathode through the TPU material, exciting it on an atomic level to create extremely localised heat. Molecules in the two pieces of material bond so completely that the site of the weld is actually structurally as strong as the material around it. In addition, HydraPak use an "overlap" welding technique whenever possible that greatly increases weld longevity and removes creases where bacteria can grow. Over our nearly 20 years making hydration products, HydraPak expertise in RF welding TPU has led the industry. |
