Because it was made in the mountains rather than in a petrochemical laboratory. It's naturally renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. Merino wool corespun wraps Merino fibre around a super-fine nylon core to create lightweight, warm and durable garments for demanding activities. The enhanced strength and durability of the fabric retains the next-to-skin softness, breathability, temperature regulation and odour resistance of Merino wool. Nature Dye: uses natural substances derived from renewable plants and natural non-toxic mordants to adhere the colour to the fabric. Each product in Icebreaker's Nature Dye collection is garment dyed - is a dye technique where row, undyed fabric is sewn into a finished garment and the finished raw garments are then dyed. Icebreaker's partners at Shanghai Challenge have pioneered a cold-water natural dye technique. This, combined with low water requirements, represents an approximate 40% reduction in energy usage.
