Finding gear

If you have a general idea of what you want to find, like a men's rain/waterproof jacket, then the best way to find the items we have online is:

1. Navigate to the general category from the navigation at the top (hover over the word "clothing" and navigate in the drop down menu that appears). In our example you would go to Clothing, Men's Jackets.
   
2. Use the "narrow your search" box on the left hand side of the page to shorten the selection you find. In our example you would click on "waterproof" in the "Clothing Type" drop down . You can choose one option from each drop down, and clear your choice by clicking on the cross beside your choice at the top of the "narrow your search" box (see the screenshot).
   
3. At the top of the items on the category page you will see how many items there are available with the choices you have made in narrowing your search. You can order these by price, name or brand by using the drop down box on the right. You can also choose how many items you can see on the page at any one time - choose from 9, 15, 30 or all items:
4. Choose an item to look at - in our example we will have a look at the "Outdoor Research Men's Trio Jacket - deleted colours".
5. If you wish, you can compare two or more items by either clicking on the compare buttons on the category page or the compare button at the top of each product page. You can only add one at a time, but after you have several you wish to compare you just click on the "view compare items" at the top of the product page or the "compare" button in the "compare products" box in the left hand navigation on a category page. Examples below. Note that when you go to view your compare items these will appear in a pop-up window.

If you know exactly what you want to look for it will be easier to use the SEARCH BOX at the top of every page. By typing in 3 or more letters and waiting a moment rather than clicking "search" or using the enter key on your keyboard, a slecetion of all the items we stock with those letters in the name will show up in a drop down with a small thumbnail of the product. You can then click on any of these items and go straight to the correct page.

If there is a colour/size option to choose from you will want to check the combination you want is in stock. This is easy - you choose the colour you'd lke and then check the sizing - if your size is not showing it is not available at this the moment. It can pay to check back at a later date because sometimes gear comes back into stock.

Making a purchase

When you have found something you want to buy this is what you do:

1. Choose the colour/size combination you want:
   
   
2. If you'd like to buy more than one of the item change the number in the "Quantity" box otherwise just leave it at "1".
3. Click on the orange "add to cart button".
4. You will then be taken to your shopping cart page (and the mini cart in the top right hand corner of each page will show the number of items in your cart and the total amount). From here you can still change the quantity of the item you wish to buy, continue shopping or Check Out using our secure server.
   Note: unless you have created an account and logged in the items in your cart will disappear after a day.
   
   • Coupon Code: From now on our promotions will work via a coupon code. So if we run a promotion for 20% off all new Icebreaker, for example, for which you qualify (by being on our email list or a member of Southern Cross or reading the newspaper on the right day or ...) you will have been given a coupon code which you can enter into the box here on your cart page to claim the discount. By using coupon codes we can run promotions more easily than we could in the past. Enter the code and click on the "apply coupon" button to see the effect on your order total. Join our mailing list and make sure you receive notice of exclusive offers (although you may find coupon codes elsewhere from time to time).
     
5. Proceeding to Check Out will take you through a simple 6 step procedure suring which you tell us your contact details, the address you want your order shipped to and how you want to pay. All information will appear on the right hand side so you can tell exactly what information you have entered. You can back track to any step to correct yourself if you have made a mistake.
   Note: You do not have to have an account to order from us but having an account means you can keep an eye on your order, have all the information ready for next time you order, edit information at any time, and keep items in your cart ready for next time you log in.
