Looking to own one shell? Look no further. The Beta AR handles most conditions and activities thrown at it. Aside from how dry this jacket will keep you, my favorite feature is the fabric construction between the shoulders and body. More durable Gore-Tex Pro ePe fabric on the shoulders, arms and hood to withstand abrasion from your pack, and lighter, equally waterproof Gore-Tex ePe on the body to save your pack weight. Wet summer hikes or back country skiing, this jacket has you covered.

I've had this jacket for several years now and I never want to have to replace it - it's that good. This thing has kept me dry on countless occasions in very heavy downpours. Now, for me I don't love pit zips and don't find I use them often enough to need them so if you need pit zips look at the Beta SL or the Beta AR. But for me, this is the perfect jacket. Its lightweight, fits incredibly well, layers a puffer underneath great and isn't overkill around town and gets the job done on trail. I've reapplied the DWR several times over the years which makes it good as new as well.
