Altra's Olympus 6 is a great cushioned zero drop shoe for trail runners and long distance hikers alike. The wide toe box allows plenty of room for the toes to splay, great for those with foot widths between normal and on the wider side of normal. Vibram mega grip soles and traction are well suited to muddy tracks, shedding mud well. The wide base provides ultimate stability underfoot. The woven mesh upper is hardier than that of the Altra Lone Peak, though still prone to the classic weak point where the toes flex.

Altra's Olympus 6 is a well cushioned trail running/hiking shoe that provides a zero-drop, barefoot fit. The Olympus 6 uses a Vibram "megagrip" sole that provides added grip, as well as extending the lifespan of the shoe. Altra also adds toe reinforcement as well as along the sides, to protect the upper from damage at the high-stress points. There is also heel cushioning and reinforcement to prevent wear, but needs breaking in to soften the fabric.

The Olympus is one of Altra's more cushioned models, with the features of making it great for well-established and flat trails and walks, and great for use as an everyday shoe, catering to wide feet.
The added stack height and wider base will provide less control and stability when used on rough, varied terrain, such as tree roots, proving unfavorable for conditions within more strenuous trails, but are a good option for more open terrain.

I have personally used this shoe on Thru-Hikes, with Altra now being my go-to lightweight, long-distance shoe. It is suited well to long days with light pack weight and provides extra comfort with additional cushioning.

Fit tip:

Olympus 6 fits very wide at the toe box, but is often quite compressed around the bridge of the foot due to the extra cushioning.

The Altra Lone Peak 9+ is a great lightweight high mileage trail shoe. The wide toe box and minimal, zero-drop sole cater for long days and allow for a more natural movement during hiking, opting for a more "barefoot" shoe design. This wide, zero-drop construction takes some time to get used to, and will not be suited towards those with narrow feet.
The minimal sole provides an ample amount of comfort while allowing proper underfoot feel and awareness of terrain. This 9+ model features a Vibram "Megagrip" outsole, increasing the lifespan of the shoe and providing a higher level of grip.

This shoe's fit will reduce the amount of control when used on fast-paced, technical terrain, but will thrive on slower, more defined trails.

I personally used this shoe while Thru-Hiking on both the Pacific Crest Trail and Oregon Coast Trail, lasting me longer than other trail runners that I had used, and catering well towards my wider foot shape. the quick-drying upper makes this good for frequently wet terrain, and light-weight movement. This shoe is a great option for Thru-Hikers and people looking for a wide, barefoot fit.
