I recently used this mat for the first time with a -1°C comfort quilt and an overnight low of 2°C - as a cold sleeper who has never slept through the night under 5°C I was thrilled to not have woken up once. This was an upgrade from my 3R sleeping mat and one that I am extremely happy with. I'm also a side sleeper and have often woken up from pain in my hips from falling through the mat, but the dimpled baffle design distributed my weight perfectly and I didn't wake up from any pain for the first time ever. Two firsts! I'm 178cm and opted for the Long/Large length for the extra width to turn comfortably without falling off. I may just try out some more winter camping thanks to this pad!

  • Dual-density layer Thermal Core® insulation fills the inner space, and includes a film that reflects infrared radiation preventing heat loss due to convection and internal air movement
  • Lighter, quieter and durable 30D/40D face fabric with Sea to Summit' liquid-extruded lamination is extremely reliable
  • 7.4 R-Value is perfect for cold weather adventures
  • The 10cm thick Air Spring Cell construction gives you a plush sleeping experience regardless of your sleeping position
  • Increased weld strength for greater durability
  • Quick and easy inflation, deflation and adjustment is made possible by the XPRESS valve and supplied Airstream™ Pump/stuff sack
  • Anti-microbial treatment added to the TPU lamination formula prevents internal mold growth
  • PillowLock system prevents your Sea to Summit Aeros Pillow from slipping
  • Comes with a repair kit with six self-adhesive patches and a spare valve

Possibly the best sleeping mat for side sleepers? It's super comfy for anyone to use as it's thick enough that your shoulders/hips don't fall through to the ground when sleeping on your side. I'd recommend opting for the Long or Wide options depending on your height so that your feet don't fall off when rolling over. Not the lightest weight option out there - but if you value your sleep like me, this pad is definitely worth it in my opinion. Plus, when the last thing you want to do at the end of a long day is set up camp, this pad inflates in under 2 minutes using the pump bag it comes with - how good!

A good night’s sleep makes a big difference on a multi-day trip, and I slept well on the Ether Light XR during my six days around Great Barrier Island. I paired it with the Spark sleeping bag, and the setup worked well even when the weather turned. The mat has 10 cm of cushioning, insulation to reduce heat loss to the ground and a valve that lets you adjust the firmness. The pump sack being built into the stuff sack is a practical touch too. It’s a good option when sleeping comfort matters on consecutive nights out.

“I found it noticeably warmer than any other mat I have used, comfortable, quiet and light weight.”
