The Sportlite family of packs is one of my long-time favorites. I picked up a Sportlite 20 a few years ago when I was after a simple small volume bag for day hikes, but that could also collapse nice and flat in the bottom of my duffel. It carries everything I need for hikes year-round on the North Island, as long as I'm not gaining too much elevation as the 20L becomes a bit tight trying to squeeze a puffer and a shell inside. The 20L option fits a bit shorter, while the 25L comes in two length options - as a rule of thumb I find the S/M fits most women, while the L/XL suits most men. The 25L is slightly more supportive as it does have a hip belt.

As I said, this bag makes an excellent travel companion for when I need a bag around town or want to go hiking, but due to its light weight and flexible back panel, I don't notice it taking up too much space in my luggage. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a lightweight, simple and no-frills day bag, or as a travel bag.
