Bivouac Outdoor has been part of New Zealand’s outdoor community since the late 1980s. Family-owned from the beginning, the business grew under the long-term leadership of Wayne Martin, staying focused on specialist gear, honest advice, and looking after people heading into the outdoors.
In 2025, Bivouac was acquired by Brittain Wynyard, another New Zealand family-owned business. It is a natural fit, built on shared values around long-term thinking, independence, and doing things properly. The team, the knowledge, and the way we look after customers remain the same.
Wayne passed away in 2026. It was a loss felt across the business. He mentored and backed many of the people who are still part of Bivouac today, shaping the way we approach our work. That approach continues to guide how we operate.
