The Black Diamond Momentum Lace climbing shoes are great if you are a first-time climber and want to quit using rental shoes. The nice thing with synthetic shoes is that, if the shoe already fits you perfectly well in-store, the shoe will not budge nearly as much as a leather one. The laces may make some people question if they want to deal with that every time they climb and although velcro is more practical, laces are much nicer when you want to get a better fit if your foot is low volume, narrow or very wide.
