I am excited for the Tempest Pro to be my future multi day lightweight tramping pack. The 40L volume offers that sweet spot between enough space to fit your belongings as well as keeping you from overloading yourself and carry less. The "Pro" version of the tempest is a more streamlined version of the 44L. It has less padding on the shoulders and hip belt and less straps hanging about and it is made from lighter weight materials. The pack sits closer to your back the same way all Tempest/Talon range packs do, which is better for fast hiking, going on uneven and steep terrain as it keeps the pack from swinging side to side or having a sensation that the weight of the pack is pulling you backwards and destabilizing you. If you are looking for something more padded and comfy, this is not the pack for you.

Light and very durable pack that can be used on long day and as well on multiday hikes. It is narrower shape which gives enough room for movement in more challenging terrains. I'm using it as well as hiking-camera pack, and straps on the bottom the bag are super useful for holding camera tripod. I highly recommend use of pack liner and dry bags due to top-loading design.

Fit tip:

Comfy up to 12-14kg. Over that weight it is missing a bit padding on shoulder and hip straps.

This is my go-to pack on long Winter hikes when I need some extra volume or on quick overnight missions. This pack has come with me to Cape Brett lighthouse, Pouakai Tarns, and many others. This pack does better with a lighter load as it has minimal padding, and the adjustability in the shoulder straps/hip belt is more limited compared to other packs. I love how this pack carries weight close to the back and the harness hugs around the hips/lower back - but if you have wider hips this may not be the pack for you! The one thing I don't love about this pack is the load adjusters on the shoulder straps - if your pack is on the heavier side you'll definitely start to feel it which is why it's suited more to lightweight trips.

The Eja 38 is a great option if you are weight conscious and are at the point in your hiking journey where you want to carry less. The pack itself is incredibly lightweight, its mesh back panel provides very nice air flow. The pack has been stripped down from any feature that would tend to add weight on regular packs while maintaining essential components such as, dual water bottle holders, thin compression straps, zipped hip belt pockets and a spacious outer mesh. This pack is designed to carry light loads only. In my opinion, your pack will collapse in itself and feel awful if you pack over 10-12kgs with the Eja 38. This is a very specific style of pack for someone who understands the trades off of owning and carrying lightweight gear.
