The Salomon X Ultra is the perfect shoe if you're wanting that lighter weight feel of a trail runner but the support of a hiking shoe - perfect for day hikes or ultralight missions. This shoe fits on the narrower side, so if you've got a mid-to-wide foot these may be too narrow. The treads are super grippy and the quick-laces make them a breeze to take on or off and no need to re-tie your laces on the go. While most customers fall in love with these on the spot, those with a narrow heel have commented that they can't get the laces tight enough to prevent the heel slipping.

The Innox make for a great hardwearing everyday or easy trail walking shoe. They are particularly great for walking in parks and when crossing wet grass. They are as comfortable as a trail runner but provide better support, stability and more durability. They fit a wide rage of feet widths. Having Gore-Tex makes them less breathable and warmer as well as more expensive.
Although they utilize better quality materials than other brands these shoes are still fairly expensive which makes me wonder if it is a true worth while investment in the end.

The XA Pro is a classic for a reason. Handles a variety of terrains well, very grippy, and has remained consistent between models. It offers a more stable feel and does require time to break in as it is quite stiff in the mid-sole. Heavier than a lot of other trail runners, but more durable as well. Has a roomier toe-box compared to other Salomon models.

The durability and stability the XA Pro offers also makes it an excellent option for those wanting something lighter than a hiking shoe, but more durable than other light-weight trail runners for hiking/walking in.
