- Quick to apply in a washing machine and ensures that the treatment goes right through the item, treating both the outer fabric and the down fill
- The DWR of Nikwax Down Proofâ„¢ develops on air drying. However, tumble drying is recommended to ensure that the down is dried thoroughly and as quickly as possible. Leaving down wet or damp can ruin it completely

- Uses per bottle: Approximately 150ml per item of clothing and approximately 300ml per sleeping bag
- How to use:
- For best results remove all non-washable parts and clean item(s) first with Nikwax Down Wash.Direct® in a separate wash cycle. No need to dry item(s) before waterproofing. Shake well before use. Follow care label instructions (large items can be treated by hand).
- Front-loading machine wash:
- Remove all detergent build-up from the detergent dispenser
- Place clean item in washing machine (maximum 1 item)
- Use 150ml for 1 item
- Run 30°C synthetic cycle and slow spin
- After the cycle has finished run multiple spin cycles, each time incrementally increasing the spin speed, to remove excess water
- Hand wash (use gloves):
- Immerse clean item(s) in hand-hot water. For clothing: use 150ml per item, fully submerge item(s) in water. For sleeping bags: use 300ml in 4cm-deep water in a bath
- Agitate to mix, leave to soak for 5-10 minutes, then agitate thoroughly
- Rinse clothing in cold water until water runs clear. For sleeping bags, repeat process, drain, and gently press bag to expel excess water.
- To maintain waterproofing always wash with Nikwax Down Wash.Direct®. Do not use detergents
Nikwax Down Wash Direct has been specifically designed and optimised for down filled gear. It is a highly effective cleaner which removes body oils and dirt from both the fabric and the down fill. It also restores the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) of both the outer fabric and the down. This protects against rain and condensation, preventing the item from wetting out and maintaining the natural insulating properties of down. Additionally it revives breathability, allowing moisture vapour to pass through the item, optimising performance in cold and damp conditions. Nikwax Down Wash Direct prolongs the effective life of your down gear. It is the safe way to thoroughly clean your down clothing and equipment. Application in a washing machine is quick, easy, and ensures that the whole item is thoroughly cleaned.

*Due to the oversized nature of certain products in our range we must charge an oversized shipping fee of $30 for 1 oversized item, or $50 for 2 or more oversized items to reflect the cost of shipping. NZ Overnight Delivery:
All standard orders are sent via NZ Post’s Overnight Delivery Service. Orders placed before 2pm are usually delivered the next working day - nationwide, however delivery timeframes may occasionally vary due to courier delays outside of our control.
- Options for 'Signature Required' or 'No Signature Required' via the checkout.
- We deliver to NZ physical addresses and PO Boxes (no parcel lockers).
- We ship Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays).
- For Rural Deliveries and in certain parts of NZ - time frames may take a bit longer.
- Additional delays may also occur if further payment or address information is required.

- Orders with both standard and oversized items in them, will be delivered in the oversized delivery timeframe of 3-7 working days.

Oversized Deliveries:
Shipping of oversized items takes 3-7 working days. However you are able to pick these up Same Day should the oversized item be available in your selected store. Find out more here.

All items are tracked using NZ Post. Check your Shipping Confirmation email for a link or click here and enter your tracking details.
To get your order to you as quickly as possible, your items may be shipped from multiple locations. This means your order could arrive in separate packages or be delivered on different days.

Non Shipping Days and Delays:
- Orders placed late Friday or over the weekend are processed the following Monday.
- Sale periods may cause delays due to increased order volume.

Rural Delivery:
No additional charges or fees for any rural deliveries throughout New Zealand. Some rural deliveries may take longer than standard NZ delivery times. Rural may take a further 1-2 days.
Cancellation Policy:
Unfortunately orders cannot be cancelled or modified once they are placed. However, if there's an issue with your order, please contact our Customer Service team as soon as possible and we'll do our best to help.
